Sean Michaels - Managing Broker and President
Sean Michaels is the Managing Broker and President of Obsidian Property Management Ltd. Which he co-owns with his wife Celeste. Sean has dedicated his career to the study of strata; starting in 2005 when he was employed at the Financial Institutions Commission of British Columbia (“FICOM”). In that same year, he became the president of the strata where he lives. He helped, as a council member, to establish operations of a 250+ unit self-managed strata in its first year of self-management; and has volunteered on the council several times since. In 2008 Sean passed his strata management licensing course; and promptly became licensed as a strata manager.
Since then, Sean has deliberately managed many different types of stratas and buildings, while continuing to expand his education in this profession. To sum it up in a word, it has become his “vocation”. His previous experience as a Wal-Mart Assistant Store Manager, Regional Executive Assistant with Bulk Systems (a Trimac Company), and Administrative Service Manager at Thomas Skinner and Son; have provided transferable skill sets and practical application of his Business Management Diploma from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Beyond Sean’s professional career, he enjoys spending time with his family. Together with his wife Celeste and daughter Caelin, he regularly goes camping, trail walking, and to parks to experience and appreciate the outdoors. When the weather is less than pleasant Sean is known to indulge in computer and board games; immerse himself in a good sci-fi, fantasy, or action movie.
Celeste Michaels - General Manager
Celeste Michaels is the General Manager and Co-Owner of Obsidian Property Management Ltd. with her husband Sean. Celeste has worked in many administrative roles and offices throughout her career. However, as Sean’s portfolio of clients grew, Celeste decided to join him as his unlicensed strata manager assistant in 2009.
While working with Sean, Celeste found a passion for learning the details and minutiae of strata operation and law. This caused her to get her strata management license in 2012. She managed a portfolio of strata clients until 2020 when she fully transitioned to the role of General Manager for Obsidian. As General Manager, she is responsible for the Operational Service Department and Internal Compliance for Obsidian.
Outside of work Celeste (beyond being a super-mom and wife) is an avid reader, and gamer. Also, from a young age she has been perfecting her crafting skills; mostly focused on fiber arts but also enjoys creating beautiful things through all types of crafting. This is just another area where she expresses her love of detail.
Roselee Kucharek, BBA, Controller
Roselee Kucharek brings to the company over 15 years of experience in business and accounting. Roselee holds a degree in Accounting and is currently in the last stretch of completing her Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Roselee has industry experience in construction, public accounting, manufacturing and small business. Roselee also owned and operated her own business in Manitoba before moving to B.C. Roselee has been with Obsidian for eight years and continues to evolve with the ever-changing strata management industry.
